Poppit® - for rapid, accurate fastening of ceiling/wall panels, trim and cladding, with instant demount and precise, built-in alignment |
 |
The new Poppit® fastener system by BigHead simplifies and speeds up the mounting of internal/external panels and cladding where instant demount is required. The adhesive-based procedure ensures exact alignment. The stainless steel ball clicks firmly into a female socket, moulded in high-impact polycarbonate; the moulded jaws grip the stainless steel ball to form a perfect ball and socket joint. The precision engineering of the joint prevents any squeaks or rattles. The male and female fasteners are normally supplied as a pair.
To assemble, Poppits are glued to the reverse side of a panel at suitable intervals; apply installation complete with the moulded head. The standard 30mm dia. Poppit supports a weight of 5.0 kgs vertically, and over 12 kgs in shear. For a metre-square panel weighing 20kgs, we recommend three rows of three, or four rows of four Poppits. Safety factor with three rows is 45:20; with four rows it is 80:20, or a remarkable 4 to 1. Further versions are in development with higher load-carrying performance. The 20mm Poppit version supports 3kgs vertically, and 6kgs in shear.
The Poppit “Prop” is a quick-release temporary strut to help in applying panels to a ceiling (see “Installation Guide”). Buy your Poppits, BigBond and all accessories direct from BigHead, or your usual BigHead distributor.
