News release May 1 2002 Pinsulator fasteners - the hot new idea from BigHead A smart solution for reducing the cost of space heating has been developed by BigHead Bonding Fasteners. The new Pinsulator fasteners, which easily and cheaply fix thermal and acoustic insulation to walls and other surfaces, are equally suited for use in small workshops, garages or large factories. The 3mm diameter stainless steel pins are designed with a flat spiral at one end which can be stuck to a wall with conventional builders adhesives. The adhesives solvent-based, two parters or hot melts flow through the spiral wires and key the pins firmly and permanently into position, at set distances apart. Insulation materials are then impaled on to the Pinsulators and secured with stainless steel clips. The pins are rust-proof and fire-resistant and come in six lengths from 30 mm to 150 mm. Commercial quantities of shorter or longer ones can be produced to order.
Ken Stanley, BigHead founder, says: Space heating is expensive, particularly if the heat is allowed to pass unhindered through brick or block walls. The Pinsulator has been specially designed to be used with insulation materials and will help reduce heat losses or gains, as well as helping to reduce noise levels.
